SHOWMAN'S ENGINE
ITEM 10260

Whether chain roundabouts, organs, ship swings or chain fliers in former times all needed at the fairs, a source of electricity that could be transported with the attractions from city to city.
The electricity the was produced by means of a generator driven by the simple steam tractor. Since the tractor stood in the proximity of the attractions, they were decorated, lit up and made visually pleasing. Today these Showman's Engine's are still in large numbers in England and are attractions to see and admire at the meetings.
